Rules

The winner of the Mensch Madness Bracket Challenge will be determined by the following rules:

  • Scoring – You will be rewarded the corresponding points below for any correct pick in a given round. In the event that a tournament game does not take place as schedule there will be no points awarded for that match.
    • 1st Round: 5 points per pick
    • 2nd Round: 10 points per pick
    • 3rd Round: 20 points per pick
    • Sweet 16: 40 points per pick
    • Elite Eight: 80 points per pick
    • Final Four: 160 points per pick
    • Championship: 320 points per pick
  • Lock-time – All picks will lock at the scheduled tip off time of the first tournament game scheduled for Thursday, March 21st, 2024 at 12:00 noon Eastern. Your picks for the matchups will lock one minute prior to tip-off at 11:59am Eastern on March 21st, 2024. Selections submitted after the deadline will be invalid.
  • Ties – Participants may, but are not required to, submit a predicted score for the championship game. This prediction is used for tiebreaker purposes only. If no predicted score is submitted for an entry, it is given a default prediction of zero (0) points to zero (0) points.
  • Tiebreakers – In all cases, an entry that does not win a tiebreaker is eliminated from consideration.
    • Tiebreaker #1 – A participant’s predicted Tiebreaker Game Score is compared to the actual game score. The differences between the predicted score and actual score for each team are added together into a combined total. The entry with the smallest total is considered the winning entry.
    • Tiebreaker #2 – The participant’s predicted score for the winning team that is closest to the actual score of the winning team is considered the winning entry.
    • Tiebreaker #3 – Number of points scored in Championship Round.
    • Tiebreaker #4 – Number of points scored in Round 6.
    • Tiebreaker #5 – Number of points scored in Round 5.
    • Tiebreaker #6 – Number of points scored in Round 4.
    • Tiebreaker #7 – Number of points scored in Round 3.
    • Tiebreaker #8 – Number of points scored in Round 2.
    • Tiebreaker #9 – The participant whose entry creation was recorded in the system the earliest.

Disclaimer

Mensch Madness is presented by the fraternity, as an amusement to add a little fun to the tournament. We have done our best in these unusual times to set some equitable rules:

  1. If the tournament is canceled before the first game, we will cancel Mensch Madness and offer refunds to anyone who wants them (and not offer any of the prizes)
  2. If any games or a part of the tournament is canceled AFTER the first game has started, we will not offer refunds (consider them all donations) and will not give prizes.
  3. If any games are canceled and the tournament still continues, we will modify our scoring accordingly and offer prizes to the winners and no refunds to anyone (for example, if someone picks Michigan State to win and the team gets disqualified for any reason, that’s too bad).

By registering for Mensch Madness, you agree to these rules.
Thanks, and have fun!
